EVENT REVIEW: Black Millennials for Flint "Young, Gifted & Green"
Black Millennials For Flint (#BM4F)is a grassroots,
environmental justice and civil rights organization with the purpose of bringing like-minded organizations together to collectively take action and advocate against the crisis of lead exposure specifically in African American & Latino
communities throughout the nation. BM4F is the first African American and Latino environmental justice and civil rights organization in US history founded by HBCU graduates LaTricea Adam's (Tennessee State University), Jason Barnes (Coppin State University), Michelle Mabson (Howard University) and Krystina White (Howard University).
Their roots began as a programming initiative within Thursday Network—Greater Washington Urban League Professionals led by LaTricea Adams, Founder CEO & President. BM4F's first project was to support the Buffalo Urban League Young Professionals Chapter with bringing in donations in preparation for a Flint Service Trip where they helped bring in over 170 water donations. As a collective group of black millennials, they grew into an official movement on February 10, 2016.
Black Millennials For Flint created this event during Congressional Black Caucus Week and not only did it teach you the ways of helping and giving back, but it celebrated the monumental figures that are out in the fields making strides and helping those in need.
