EVENT REVIEW: Go-Go Awards 2019
"Go-go is a nostalgic music genre comprised of funk from the Washington, D.C, area which started during the mid-60s to late-70s and remains the most popular outcome of music in the Washington, D.C area. Some early bands credited with having developed the style are the Young Senators, Black Heat, and singer-guitarist Chuck Brown. Go-go is a blend of funk, rhythm and blues, and old school hip-hop, and as such, primarily a dance hall music with an emphasis on live audience call and response."
Fast forward to today, Go-go music has been the forefront of our musical culture here in the DMV and has helped with signifying causes like Moechella and Don't Mute DC. The awards is dedicated to showcasing the various acts of the city that contribute to the continuation of Go-go music here in the region.
The 2019 Go-go awards was nothing short of amazing and really captivated what the art & entertainment realm really is here in the nation'as capital. Held at the beloved and remodeled Ballou High School in the southeast region of DC, saw an outpouring of love, fun, dancing and a funky good ol' time.
With DC Activist and power player Ronald Moten behind, its sure to be a great time. Check It Enterprises, Don't Mute DC, DC Music & 202 Creates in partnership made this successful event happened and according to the people, this by far was the best night ever.

The awards in entirety was a night of celebrating the music that has built this dynamic city and region and it was an honor to capture it and was a pleasure being able to capture the vibes and essence of the event and share to The Media Prince world.
